So, we're going to Southern California, now what?

Aren't we lucky, that Southern California is a very popular vacation destination, with nearly endless recreation and entertainment options!! Just to get started, we've made a list of a few MANY options to consider. We hope to narrow this list down to the top 5-8 options for fun things to do during the reunion, and we'd love your input! So.... take a look and let us know what sounds fun to you, and please make suggestions for other things you would enjoy! You can leave a comment below, or e-mail us at:

At the very bottom of this post, there is a map showing the location of all these options; many are within 20-30 minutes of Ontario, and nearly all are within about 1-1.5 hours drive.

Also, you told us in the survey that things like sharing meals together, game nights, and just hanging out together are important, so those things will definitely be on the agenda (even though they aren't on this list.)

Survey progress

As of this morning, about half the family has participated in an online survey... there seem to be a lot of excitement for a family reunion. It will be great to see what everyone else has to contribute so we know where and when to start planning something!

How it all started

TRUE LOVE: John & Emmy met, fell in love, and got married March 21, 1945.

LOVE GROWS: Four blessings were added in quick succession: Johanne, Janny, Bart & Maria.

LOVE SAILS: In 1953, John & Emmy bravely emigrated from Holland, finding their way to Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada. While there, Martin arrived, the 5th child born to John & Emmy.

LOVE gets its kicks on ROUTE 66: In 1963, the family moved again to Montclair, California. Then things really changed!!!
* John & Emmy's 5 children are all married...
* and then the grandchildren started arriving...
* and then the grandchildren begin to get married...
* and then the great-grandchildren started to arrive!!

LOVE TODAY!
That's a lot of people - over 30!! - ALL BECAUSE TWO PEOPLE FELL IN LOVE. Awww, isn't that sweet?
